Evidence-Based Treatment
Mucosamin is used for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis and associated symptoms in patients undergoing cancer treatment (radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy) such as dry mouth conditions. Mucositis is a common side effect of cancer treatment that causes the lining of your mouth to become sore and inflamed.
Both Mucosamin Mouthwash and Mucosamin Spray are indicated for:
Mucosamin can be used by patients experiencing mucositis from cancer treatment, those with dry mouth conditions and burning mouth syndrome.
Mucosamin contains a patented formulation of sodium hyaluronate and four synthetic amino acids: glycine, L-proline, L-leucine, and L-lysine HCl. These amino acids assist in wound repair protecting healthy tissue (mucosa) from damage whilst supporting wound healing.
Use three or four times (or more) a day according to the severity of the symptoms.
Important: Both Mouthwash and Spray can be used during treatment. Combine with a diet free of spicy or acidic foods.
Mucosamin can be used throughout your treatment journey. It may be used pre-treatment to help protect the oral mucosa, during treatment for pain relief and symptom management, and post-treatment for healing and recovery.
For optimal prevention, treatment should ideally commence before the start of radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
For dry mouth conditions, Mucosamin can be used when symptoms are present to provide relief and maintain oral comfort.
Safety Profile: Mucosamin has been evaluated across nine clinical studies involving 679 patients with no adverse events reported.
The only contraindication is known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. There are no reports of interactions with drugs or medicinal substances. There are no known secondary effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding, however use should be at healthcare professional's discretion.
Mucosamin should be stored between 8°C and 30°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat sources. Do not store in the refrigerator. Do not use if packaging has been opened or damaged, or after the expiry date. Keep out of reach of children.
